New Exhibitions!

Saturday, June 26 through Thursday, July 29
This month we welcome Diana Tusher as our special guest artist. She will be showing her continued exploration of fiber and clay work rooted in the idea of the bandaging of manipulated ceramic forms. The teardrops are a focus for meditating on the meaning we give objects, their importance to our lives, the memories they trigger ­ their stories.  The tearbowls finish the process, hold the memories and the stories.

A two week trip to the southwest spurred Cindy Conklin's experimentation with mixed media in this new series. The sandstone formations, Native American art and rich desert colors of Arizona and New Mexico wowed her. Seeing the works of many local artists didn't hurt either as she was able to take the leap from her customary watercolors and venture into a new and exciting collage form including exotic papers, fibers, beads, gilding and paint.

Fans of Esther Nowell and Etsuko Douglass will find their ceramic creations in the balcony gallery for the month of July.

New Members!
We warmly welcome two new members to our gallery this month.  Linda Spadaro and Jackie Mild-Lau. Linda has lived in Hawaii since 1973 and is well known for her bold and energetic style in watercolor, acrylic, printmaking, and mixed media on canvas.  Jackie has made Hawaii her home since 1980 where she is highly respected for her sculpture and bronze casting work, and as a teacher with the Honolulu Academy of Arts and the University of Hawaii Outreach College.

Watercolor Demonstrations - Watch a watercolor painter at work most Saturday mornings from 10am to 12noon.
