WARD CENTERS’ FESTIVAL OF GIVING TOPS LAST YEAR’S RECORD, RAISING $157,970 FOR MORE THAN 137 HAWAII NONPROFITS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 2/7/2011 - HONOLULU - Ward Centers’ Festival of Giving, a three-day shopping extravaganza that took place from November 12-14, raised $157,970 for more than 137 local nonprofit organizations. In 2009, the event raised $121,460. Participating nonprofits retained 100 percent of their proceeds from the sale of $10 Festival of Giving tickets. The tickets provided shoppers with exclusive discounts and special offers at more than 100 shops and restaurants throughout Ward Centers.

“Festival of Giving at Ward Centers has been a fun and easy way for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to raise money, while also interacting with the community and informing them of our cause,” said Alicia Aragon, campaign manager, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. “I encourage nonprofits who did not participate in last year’s Festival of Giving fundraiser to consider participating this year. I guarantee it will be worthwhile.”

Festival of Giving is a major fundraiser for many local charities and school groups. Ward Centers’ next fundraising event, Give & Get, will be held from April 8-10, 2011. More information about Give & Get will be released shortly. This year’s Festival of Giving is scheduled for November 4-6, 2011.  For more information, please email Heidi Kuia at the Ward Centers’ marketing department at [email protected]
