WARD CENTERS’ FESTIVAL OF GIVING RAISES A RECORD $121,460
FOR MORE THAN 100 HAWAI‘I NONPROFITS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE  - December 29, 2009

Ward Centers’ Festival of Giving, a three-day shopping extravaganza that took place November 6-8, raised $121,460 for more than 100 local nonprofit organizations.  Participating nonprofits retained 100 percent of their proceeds from the sale of $10 Festival of Giving tickets.  The tickets provided shoppers with exclusive discounts and special offers at more than 100 shops and restaurants throughout Ward Centers.

“It has been especially difficult for some of our local nonprofit organizations to raise funds for their causes in the current economic climate, and I would really like to thank Ward Centers’ merchants and the community for continuing to make Festival of Giving such a success,” said Diane Bruce, marketing manager for Ward Centers.  “The funds raised through Festival of Giving will help to give our local nonprofits a financial boost going into 2010.”

Festival of Giving is a major fundraiser for many local charities and school groups.  Some of the participating nonprofits included:

100th Infantry Battalion Veterans Club
Boy Scouts of America
Catholic Charities Hawai‘i
Friends for Life
Hawai‘i Youth Opera Chorus
Hula Preservation Society
KCAA Preschools
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
Manoa Valley Theater
McKinley Band and Orchestra
Pūnana Leo O Kawaiaha‘o
Taiko Arts Center
West O‘ahu Volleyball Academy
Marine Corp League

Next year’s Festival of Giving is scheduled for November 12-14, 2010.  For more information, please email Heidi Kuia at the Ward Centers’ marketing department at [email protected].
