First 250 Customers Have the Chance to Win $500 in Merchandise Plus Other Great Prizes When Expanded Store Opens on Nov. 21
HONOLULU, (Nov. 9, 2009) – Continuing to revitalize its store base to serve their customers better, Sports Authority will formally celebrate the expansion of its Honolulu store on Nov. 21, it was announced today by Greg Waters, chief operating officer of Sports Authority.
The Grand Re-Opening celebrates the expansion of the store that includes an additional 20,000 square feet of sales floor and a second entrance. As part of the expansion the store has added a Golf Day shop with a golf swing simulator and a Surf Shop featuring swimwear, lifestyle apparel, swim and dive, surf hardgoods and eyewear. Additional benefits of the expansion are expanded offerings in apparel, footwear, hunting, fishing, camping and fitness. The Honolulu store is located in the Ward Gateway Center, 333 Ward Ave.,
The first 250 customers to walk through the doors on Nov. 21 will receive Sports Authority Mystery Bucks and have the chance to win a $500 shopping spree. Also part of the festivities, Pro Bodyboarders Jeff Hubbard and Dave Hubbard will be making an appearance during the day on Saturday.
Starting Saturday, Nov. 21, through Friday, Nov. 27, the store will be giving away memorabilia items from top sports athletes that includes a Karch Kiraly autographed volleyball; a LeBron James basketball; a signed Joe Montana football; Tiger Woods photo; a 1999 U.S. Women’s World Cup team autographed soccer ball; a Venus Williams signed tennis ball with photo and a Tony Hawk autographed skateboard in order on their respective days. One prize per day will be given to a winner that will be selected from the promotion day’s entries only.
Additional re-Grand Opening activities at the Honolulu Sports Authority store will include customer contests and free giveaways throughout the day on Nov. 21. The store will also be giving away a $100 gift card every hour from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Additional prizes include a Diamondback mountain bike, golf prizes and much more. Randy Takushi, inventor and creative force behind fishing lure company Polu Kai will also be attending the Grand Re-Opening to lend his expertise in the fishing department.
The expanded Sports Authority store will offer a fun, family-friendly atmosphere, and the combination of top-line brands, broad product selection, knowledgeable sales staff and competitively low prices that has become the hallmark of the chain’s operations.

Regular store hours will be Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. – 9:30 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
