Kids’ fashion trends are starting to look more and more like our own, with the likes of Marc Jacobs and Ralph Lauren creating pint-sized versions of their designer duds. But children grow like weeds, so investing in expensive clothes isn’t practical. That doesn’t mean they can’t still look cool. This season’s styles offer something for everyone so your little one can look both trendy and timeless.
Ladies first. Animal prints are in, but aren’t limited to leopard spots and zebra stripes. Kids—unlike us—can show their love of animals by wearing patterns of safari favorites from elephants to giraffes. This summer will also see a lot of neon, colorblocked tunics and fun, graphic tees. Of course, floral dresses and denim rompers never go out of style. As for accessories, studded sandals and heart-shaped sunglasses add the finishing touches.
Judging by boys’ fashion trends, it looks like all little men want to start a band this summer, rocking either all black or accessorizing a flannel button-down with headphones. There are also a lot of active, sporty styles like varsity jackets and track suits, as well as military looks like army jackets and camo pants. The nautical trend is a big hit for boys and girls, with the former looking stylish in navy blazers and striped shirts printed with anchors. But for boys who just wanna be boys, nothing beats a jersey tee and colorful kicks.
